This thread is for suggestions that shouldn't require massive amounts of coding/testing. By re-texturing, re-modelling and re-skinning existing mechanics to add content, your suggestions are more likely to come to fruition.
1. Raw Fish. Make fish drop Raw Fish. It feeds slightly less than meat and no health loss or disease for eating raw/fresh. Which leads me to my next suggestion:
2. Dysentery. Make raw meat give you dysentery. Dysentery makes you poop often, dehydrates you faster, and maybe has its own status icon. Currently eating raw meat is hardly worse than eating it cooked.
3. Diseases. Give some more uses for some of those berries. Maybe one berry could cure dysentery or make a potion that can cure dysentery. Other ideas would be getting the flu from standing in the cold too long, you could even use the existing heat mechanism to simulate fever.
4. Dinosaur Eggs. You could use the existing brontosaurus egg mechanic and re-skinned/modeled farming plots to make a hatchery. A dinosaur hatched from an egg (At great effort e.g. Must be kept at the right temperature) could reach a higher max level than a tamed wild dinosaur (Maybe 10 levels higher?).
5. Steam vents. Using the existing stone piping mechanics you could add geothermal to the game as a tier above fuel/gasolene machinery. The vents could be scattered around the map in locations to break up the advantage of walling off a cave or other resource on the map.
6. Hardwood and Softwood. There is also an idea I had of splitting the various types of trees into hardwood and softwood trees, or making 2 types of wood much like the stone/metal relationship. Those little palms at the beach would be softwood, they are fine for creating the first tier of storage chests but the next tier requires hardwood. I'm already finding storage issues even with storage cabinets. A second tier for both chests and cabinets would be great, even if you could only gather hardwood with a metal hatchet for example.
These are just a few suggestions I had off the top of my head. The key here is re-using code already created for other cool stuff and simply adding more content. I am not a programmer but I believe re-modelling and re-texturing in-game mechanics is a breeze compared to some of the labor intensive suggestions I see on reddit especially.
Please add your own easier to implement suggestions guys, hopefully someone actually sees this thread. If you already have plans like this and I'm being an irritant then sorry.
PS: I'm submitting this to ARK Forum Game Feature Ideas and /r/playark[1] . Thanks for an epic game, its literally one of my top 3 favourite sandboxes of all time (And no zombies!)
