Hosting Xbox One Dedicated Servers From Pc
Hosting Xbox One Dedicated Servers From Pc
Can you make it so you can host a dedicated server from your PC so you don't have to have two Xbox ones to play with your friends. It would make the game 10x better as you don't have the barrier limet and you and your friends could play whenever they want without having to leave your Xbox one on. It would just make things so much easier. Or it could be easier to join a server with just your friends without having to host your own with a Xbox one.

^I agree, I have a copy of the game on pc and xbone, and I would love to use my pic to host a server that I could then play with my friends on my Xbox without the ridiculous need to purchase another xbone just so I don't have to be tethered to other players!

Can I upvote this please? I have a great gaming PC that could host it. Surely if an Xbox can do it, my home PC can. Would rather stick to this game on console

+1 Definitely
I don't see a single reason why devs shouldn't do it. My reasoning behind this is quite simple. I own a couple of nice PC's and one xbox one. I also own two copies of the game but now it seems that I would have to spent another 200+ £ to buy another xbox one, which I do not need at all and I would have to buy third copy of the game... 250 quid to run server for X amount of time and then what? I would have to sell the second xbox and I would loose even more money. Hosting on pc is much easier. So my question to the devs would be, are there any plan in place for this? Or should I start looking for another xbone?

I stand corrected though. You dont have to buy another xbox gold membership or another copy of the game. Yet its still expensive to host your own server as you have to buy another console. Plus on top of that xbix server software is extremely limited. Most of the stuff does not work and there is no console to make any adjustments without bringing the server down.
Update:
Well it seems that I was right at the beginning. I had a dedicated server ruining out of courtesy of "game sharing" but today It just started to prompt me to buy the game. Just to make this quick, I had to buy xbl gold account and another copy of ARK. Now I can say this is the most expensive game to host server for in my life (believe me or not but I ran over 10 servers and each one of them was ran over a year).
I was actually planing to email Wildcard Studios just to see what I would get in reply. Now I own 3 copies of ark...

I really hope they make this a thing. If not, there will be a severe lack of private servers on the xbox version which would suck. Private servers allow players to customize how they want to play the game, it's where this game truly shines. Plus, you can regulate who you have a private server, but you're stuck with what you get on a public server. Private servers allow you to build a much more close-knit community of players.
