Xbox one how do I turn on the map

Xbox one how do I turn on the map

When I hit menu button I get server info and it tells me that my map is disabled first off this is stupid. It should be on by default. Anyhow any of you seasoned ark xbox one players ( yea it's not been long ) know how to turn this on. I've read that the pc version has this option before you enter a server. But I can't find it for the xbox one. Also what's with the bookmark not working.

Hit the select button. Areas you have not explored will be obscured.

This I am aware of. But you have not answered my question. There is no information on the map when one does as you pointed out. Server info indicates that player location on the map is disabled. How do I Un disable it so that looking g at the map becomes a useful endeavour rather than a waste of space. Thank you
