Game Improvement Wish list
Hello, I have currently been playing the game for roughly two weeks. I am level 45 and have yet to experience the entire game, referring to late game weapons, dinosaurs, and bosses. Even though I haven’t experience the entire game yet, I still have a “wish list” of game improvements. These improvements should both make game play more streamlined, allowing the layer to play more of the game, and remove a few frustrating aspects of the game. With that said, I will go ahead and get into my list of suggested improvements.
Improvement One: Add a server queue
Reasoning: This is an improvement that pretty much everyone wants, and I know can be done eventually. Other major games on Xbox have already worked with a server queue, Elder Scrolls Online, therefore we do know it is possible.
Improvement Two: Whenever a join server error message appears, the player’s highlighted button after clearing the message will be the join server button and not bookmark.
Reasoning: Currently whenever a player attempts to join a server and receives a join error message, primarily full server message, a popup window appears and once accepted the player’s cursor is then directed over the bookmark button. The player then must arrow over twice and attempt to join again. This would make the joining process faster in the absence of a server queue and in the event of any other join error.
Improvement Three: Ability to take over other players abandoned structures or receive partial materials when they are demolished.
Reasoning: Currently, when a player has been offline for an extended period of time, the game allows players to demolish that player’s structure. This improvement would let players claim ownership of that structure and begin to build on its snap points. I like this improvement because, especially when just starting out in the game, when you run a crossed a clearly abandoned, and usually raided structure, it’s a cool feeling to have a place to take shelter. If that is not possible, I think it would be cool to receive a portion of the resources used when building it (similar to when you destroy your own structures, but make it a smaller portion).
Improvement Four: AFK player kick/warning
Reasoning: Currently, the only thing that will kick a player is a server crash, or their Xbox auto shutting off. This is a huge problem, especially with how hard it is to get into the servers and their 70 person limit. This AFK player warning would appear after an extended idle time. This time would have to be higher than most games to take into account a player sitting for a while trying to tame a dinosaur or waiting for night to pass. Also, the ability to report a player for AFK would be nice. This report would just cause the AFK warning to appear on the other players screen, and starting a timer for them to move and cancel.
Improvement Five: The ability to move multiple items from your inventory or a container at time. Not all or one stack.
Reasoning: It would make things more convenient to be able to select multiple stacks, for instance four full stacks of wood in your inventory, and move them all to a container. This option would be added on top of the move all from inventory, and work the same as moving one stack, but with multiple stacks.
Improvement Six: When crafting with a container open, allow the player to use the inventory of that container, like the contents were in the player’s inventory.
Reasoning: It would make crafting easier. Due to player weight limits, a player can only withdrawal a couple of stacks of materials, craft, and then withdrawal more. This improvement would streamline the crafting process.
Improvement Seven: After placing a structure that was in a stack, continue placing structures without having to hotkey, or return to inventory.
Reasoning: This would make placing structures faster, and take advantage of valuable daylight.
Improvement Eight: When placing walls, make the direction of the wall more obvious, and allow the wall to be rotated before placing on snap.
Reasoning: Currently, it is difficult to tell which direction a wall is facing (inside or out) when placing it. I have multiple times placed a wall the wrong direction, and had to demolish it and replace it. The second part of this improvement would allow players to find the snap they want, and then rotate a wall into the correct angle or direction, rather than having to rotate the wall around the snap by moving your characters position and camera.
Improvement Nine: Add arrows in the character info screen to show whether a stat is going up or down.
Reasoning: This would make glancing at your stats and seeing if they are filling or emptying much faster, rather than having to look at the numbers next to them (food for instance). Also, a double arrow, or triple could show a faster gain or depletion. This would allow a player to see if, for instance, cold temperatures are having a greater effect on their food consumption, or if their armor is helping to shield them.
Improvement Ten: When servers rest, or crash, place characters invulnerable.
Reasoning: It’s one thing to log off in a terrible position, or go AFK. It’s another to D/C because of a server crash, and then not able to log back, leaving your character and any tames vulnerable until your able to get back in (which could be hours with the current state of the servers.)
This was just a short list of a few things that I could see that would help improve the game. Let me know what y'all think
