ok, so after ALOT of fiddling and messing around I finally got into a local unofficial server.

I had to put my router into bridging mode. Dunno why this helped. Hopefully it continues to help

When I attempt to join, I get the load screen with the "A" in the bottom right for a while with the load progress tile on the bottom left. It says "loading primal data" etc then "the island data" etc then after a while when it looks like its about to start, it goes back to the server list screen and...

I have posted a query to the specific server host already however I get this error on all unofficial servers. Official servers are fine.
